Make-up Work
Cozart’s 8th Grade Science
The make-up plan for student’s out of school for any amount of time for Cozart’s 8th grade science classes has two options.
Option 1: Paper Packets
• Will be available at the front desk during school hours 7:00 – 2:30 Monday thru Thursday and 7:00 – 2:00 on Fridays.
• Current week and past week’s will be available at all times, the following week will be available for pick-up on Fridays.
• The paper packet is due NO MORE than three (3) days after their return to school. To keep up appropriately, the goal would be to turn it in the first day back.
• If the student is absent multiple weeks, it would be ideal to turn the packet in upon picking up the next week’s packet. This is so feedback can be provided and gaps in understanding be done.
• If the student is using a paper packet. It is requested, but not mandatory, that a phone number where the student can be reached for a phone check for questions and understanding be completed. This will ONLY be done upon the parent’s permission and request in writing.
• Almost all daily work in class is checked through Interactive Notebook Checks. The Interactive Notebook is a notebook that the student puts all of their work, thus becoming their textbook. If paper packets are used, these notebook checks will be excused, and the student will not need to make them up.
• If a test is missed. The student should expect to take the exam NO MORE than three (3) days after they return to school.
• If upon a student’s return the unit test is within two (2) days of their return, they may opt to wait until the third (3rd) day back to take the unit test. The student must be proactive helping me know their intentions.
Option 2: Online instruction thru TEAMS
• Teams is available for all students. Log on through Teams through Classlink. Downloading the desktop version is recommended. For assistance on logging on, please visit http://srcturnkey.com/students/remote-learning-support/ While this is for “Remote” learning, troubleshooting guides are present and updated regularly.
• Assignments and video instruction (if applicable) will be available for each day.
• Assignments are loaded for each day at the specific time a student is in my class. For example, if they are in my 2nd timeblock, their assignments will show up at approximately 8:25am. Whereas a 6th timeblock student will get their assignments closer to 12:30pm.
• Completion of the daily work each day is recommended. Grace is extended and late work accepted, but unless the student is ill, every effort should be made to do the science work each day.
• Notebook checks and tests will be given online. For student’s with accommodations, the platform used for these checks and tests, allows for the item to be read to your student. Any and all other accommodations will also be granted.
